Version 0.4

Download Xuheki-0.4.tar.gz

Release notes

The main point of this release is support for messge filters. Xuheki is now able to generate Sieve scripts with an easy to use interface. Besides filtering, the UI allows you to create “on vacation” (auto-reply) message(s).

In order to make use of this feature, you need a “ManageSieve” server. If you use Dovecot for your IMAP server, then there are simple instructions for Sieve support.

If you don't use Dovecot, you can get a standalone ManageSieve server. However, your LDA (“local delivery agent”) must support Sieve scripts in order for the filters to work.

If you upgrade from a previous version, when clicking “Filters” you need to declare the host/port/user/password to the ManageSieve server. The defaults should be fine for most setups.

Hi, how can I install Xuheki on CentOs/ Fedora? Is a howto available?

Nope, sorry, no howto. But please contribute one, if you manage to install it. :-) Our install.pl script should do a large part of the job, you just have to figure out if the Apache config and the init.d script are correct.

The Apache config shouldn't a problem. Only modify the init-Sript from Ubuntu to Fedora?

Why isn't a demo available to see Xuheki in action?

Hi! Great job! This is the best webmail ever!

Would it be possible to use it, with a local IMAP server directly? I don't want a user/password in mysql, instead use direct the local IMAP server with the IMAP user/password.

Thanks

Nope, unfortunately this isn't possible... The reason for storing IMAP accounts in MySQL is that I wanted it to support multiple IMAP accounts on a single Xuheki user, similar to Thunderbird. So you login to Xuheki with an independent user/password, then add one or more IMAP servers there.

I don't like storing IMAP credentials in MySQL either, but I don't have any better ideas. Suggestions welcome. ;-)

I've been successfully running Xuheki on a trial basis for a couple of months now. Most things seem to work well. Congrats on a very nice Web-based IMAP client! One thing I haven't been able to figure out is how to add a server by right-clicking on the current account at the top of the left-hand area of the app. I select, "Add server" and it brings up the configuration dialog but upon submitting the form data, it just hangs indefinitely. Too bad to have to give up such a useful feature as being able to login to multiple accounts simultaneously - which is why I took the time to load up and configure Xuheki in the first place. Once this issue can be overcome, I think Xuheki will become our main IMAP app! Anyway, keep up the great work and feel free to pass along any hints as to getting past this issue.

I'm installing it on CentOS 5.4 right now. Data::FormValidator tends to error out since their package sucks and doesn't declare their dependencies. As a result I've had to manually install 7 packages to get theirs to compile. DateTime has also been an issue. And make sure you have all of the GD packages installed before you begin.

I actually dislike the fact that I've now had to install over 50 packages to try to get this to work. That seems a bit excessive. Although it's not using Moose as far as I can tell so it's not totally stupid. But after installing Perl modules for 30 minutes to try to get one application to work (I'm a Perl developer by trade) I'm gonna be really pissed...
